AKWA-IBOM STATE FA CHAIRMAN DESCRIBES THE STATE-OWNED TEAMS AS A WORK IN PROGRESS
The Chairman, Akwa Ibom state Football Association Mr Emmanuel Iba has described the performances of the state-owned teams as a work in progress in his nine months reign at the helm of affairs of football in the state.
Mr Iba told Palace Deities "It's being work in progress, you can see that I just came in. This is about nine months. I got the federation cup. The finals of the federation cup was too wonderful. During my time,we have had the super four. I think we are making progress and we will continue to do so.
To the fans out there, continue to have faith in our own football. This is the only state in the entire federation that has five teams playing every weekend. We have a team in the Amateur one,we have two teams in the pro league, the female team in the NWFL and Akwa United playing in the NPFL. So for a state to shoulder five teams in the league every week is something encouraging. The crime rate has reduced because the young ones are engaged".
Speaking further on Akwa united's round of 16 federation's cup clash against Sunshine stars :- " We are the defending champions. We have something at-stake and our pride in place so there is no way we will not put in all for the game".
